A launch date and some specifications of Intel's new notebook platform. Dubbed Huron River, it will arrive in the first quarter of next year to replace the presently utilized Calpella platform, which is comprised of Intel's Mobile Express Series 5 chipset and Nehalem processors. Huron River will make use of the Mobile Express Series 6 chipset along with the 32nm Sandy Bridge microarchitecture.

The forthcoming mobile platform will be used in both standard and ultrathin notebooks, will support WiMAX and Bluetooth, and should use Intel's wireless display (WiDi) technology. Meanwhile, Sandy Bridge-based processors will come in dual and quad-core iterations, including some ULV SKUs, and will have quicker integrated graphics, support for 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, as well as Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading technology.
